The story behind the Johnny Cash flipping the bird photo

Johnny Cash photographer Jim Marshall reveals truth behind San Quentin Prison shot flipping the bird. Marshall told the San Francisco Art Exchange: “I said, ‘John, let’s do a shot for the warden’,” before Cash flipped the camera the bird. The famous photo was taken the night before his San Quentin show in 1969 with Johnny in his blue jumpsuit and cowboy boots.
