Founded in 1930 with original authority between Denver, Colorado, and Chicago, Illinois, the aptly named Denver Chicago Trucking (DC) would grow to become the first coast-to-coast carrier in the nation. Real growth started in 1939 with the purchase of Denver-Los Angeles Trucking, which added routes to Los Angeles, San Diego, and Arizona. From their original 1931 A-5 International, the DC road fleet would grow to over 3,000 units wearing their once familiar DC green and yellow colors. By 1966 DC became one of the top 8 trucking companies in the U.S., with over 3,500 employees. In 1973 DC, along with LASME of Seattle, became part of the TIME System of Lubbock, TX.
