The San Francisco Spiders hockey team lasted only one season — but it was glorious

The enduring legacy of the San Francisco Spiders starts with the logo. A grimacing red spider clutches a yellow hockey stick, looking like he’s about to initiate a hockey fight, or batter the front windshield of a pest control truck. It was glorious minor league mascot work.
