Shown above is a nice MGA cresting a hill and beating hell for leather down it. The Hill Climb is a peculiarly European phenomenon, where sports cars went up and down hills as a major part of their route in their quest to complete a course with the best time and without faults. It was sort of like a rally but with hills. The MGA was a major step up in the world at Abingdon-on-Thames with a 1.5 liter engine instead of the diminutive Midget mill of 1.2 liters. It got even better later on with a 1.6 liter and twin cam versions for road races. This one here is sporting the 1.6 liter job.
