Glen Park Hardware permanently closing after 61 years

Glen Park Hardware, a staple of the Glen Park neighborhood for more than 60 years, is closing. The store announced the closure by recently posting several signs on its doors and windows. Its voicemail announced that it will be holding a liquidation sale up to 50% off this weekend.

“We appreciate the community and your support,” the answering machine recording said. The hardware store has been “a much-loved part of the neighborhood,” the Glen Park Association wrote in a post about the closure.

The hardware store was founded by Ed Josephson in 1963, who reported seeing the town grow in response to the establishment of the Glen Park BART Station, which opened a decade after the store itself… read more >
