When The CKLW Starider Dodge Van Rocked Detroit

In 1978, CKLW ‘Big 30’ FM in Detroit hired a local airbrush artist to give their new custom Dodge van a makeover. Ivan Benic was the artist who was tasked with covering the station’s rolling room with artwork from multiple albums of the era, and boy did he do a bang-up job. From Frampton Comes Alive and Hotel California to Bob Seger’s Stranger in Town and Saturday Night Fever, the van named CKLW Starider was probably the coolest van in Detroit at the time. And yes, The Bee Gees do look black
