At the recent NHRA Gator Nationals in Gainesville, Florida, some celebrity drivers from the golden era of drag racing were present. One was Don “The Snake” Prudhomme. We sat down and chatted. In the early years of drag racing, driver personalities were all the rage. You had “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney, Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen and Don “The Snake” Prudhomme. All competed fiercely against one another then, in the heyday of the sport.
