In 1988, following his mother’s death, a young Peter Quill is abducted from Earth by a group of alien thieves and smugglers. Twenty-six years later on the abandoned planet Morag, we catch up with Quill, now known as the Star-Lord, still rocking his old Walkman and listing to his homemade Awesome Mix Vol. 1 cassette tape that he had with him at the time of his abduction. As he goes about his business acquiring illicit goods across the galaxy, listening to classic tracks like Hooked on a Feeling and Spirit in the Sky acts as a way for him to stay connected to the Earth, home, and family he lost decades ago.
