’69 Chevy Yenko Camaro vs. ’70 Ford Torino Super Cobra Jet

Let’s get it on! First car is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko. The other a 1970 Ford Torino Super Cobra Jet. The Yenko Camaro has a 427 V8, while the Ford Torino has a 429 V8. The Yenko Camaro was rated 450 horsepower, compared to the Torino SCJ’s 375. The Torino has a 4-speed manual transmission, while the Yenko Camaro has a TH400 3-speed automatic. Rear gearing that came standard in the Yenko Camaro was 4.10, but this one now houses 4.33 rear gears. The Super Cobra Jet Torino has 4.57 rear gears. The Camaro weighs-in at 3,696 pounds, including driver, while the Torino is a whopping 4,108 pounds. There were only 129 4-speed Torino SCJ produced in 1970, and only 30 automatic equipped Yenko Camaros from 1969. Motor Trend tested a ’70 Torino Super Cobra Jet (4-speed, 3.91 rear gears) and it ran 13.99 seconds @ 101 mph. Super Stock magazine tested a 1969 Yenko Camaro that was using a set of headers, and it ran 12.59 seconds @ 108.07 mph.
