Calumet Says Howdy

The “Calumet says Howdy” mural from the 1984 Patrick Swayze commie invasion flick, Red Dawn, set in the fictional town of Calumet, Colorado can still be visited in Las Vegas, New Mexico, the town that stood in for Calumet. Much of the town still looks exactly the same as when the movie was filmed and the mural has been restored and maintained, so it looks as good as ever. It is a must stop for those who grew up in the ’80s and feared those scary Russians! A perfect spot to do your best “Swayze (R.I.P.) – Wolverines!” pose and grab a great picture for the ole’ road trip scrap book. H/T
