The Vitamilkman

Edwin Teel founded Vitamilk Dairy in Seattle, Washington during the Great Depression. He bought a milk truck in 1934 and began delivering milk from a local dairy to customers in the greater Seattle area. Three years later, Teel built a processing plant in the Green Lake neighborhood, and Vitamilk began producing their own dairy products. Vitamilk primarily served a niche market as a supplier to independent grocery stores, and were known for their high quality, great tasting products. As grocery stores increasingly became consolidated throughout the ’90s, the small independent stores became fewer and fewer, eventually resulting in the end of Vitamilk in the 2000s.
