Eddie Meyer Hollywood Flathead

Eddie Meyer went into business in 1919 repairing Model T Fords in Redlands, California and became a successful race car driver, racing a Rajo Model T with great success in 1923 and 1924. Bud Meyer, Eddie’s son, joined Eddie Meyer Engineering in 1928. Eddie generally ran the business and Bud was primarily in charge of the shop. A few of their more legendary employees included Ed Pink, Louis Senter (Ansen), Tom Sparks, Phil Remington, and Ray “Racer” Brown, all of whom went on to fabled careers in the automotive performance industry.

Eddie Meyer Engineering Company produced outstanding flathead speed equipment from the late 1940s through the early 1950s. The overall quality of their equipment was always a cut above the competition. Bud finally purchased the business from Eddie in 1973, and continued to operate Eddie Meyer Engineering Company, primarily engaged in the repair of European sports cars, until the business eventually closed in 2002.

Due to the quality and performance of Eddie Meyer Flathead speed equipment and the Meyer “mystique” rooted in the family’s rich racing history, Eddie Meyer products have always been some of the most highly prized speed equipment ever produced. The staff at Monterey Speed and Sport is proud of its role in perpetuating this important chapter of our hot rod heritage. H/T>
