Pie-crust Bias-ply Tires

Pie-crust bias-ply tires are an unmistakable piece of vintage hot rod and drag racing style, named for the distinctive scalloped tread pattern that resembles the crimped edge of a pie crust. Common on performance cars during the 1950s and ’60s, these tall, narrow tires used traditional bias-ply construction and became especially associated with dragsters, gassers, customs, and street machines. Their rounded profile, tall sidewalls, and aggressive shoulder pattern gave cars of the era a tough, purposeful stance. Today, pie-crust tires remain popular with traditional hot rod builders looking to capture the authentic appearance of early American drag racing and custom-car culture.
